Within both sleep pillow categories a secondary division can be made with regard to firmness. Unfortunately the customary firmness labels, soft, medium, and firm, are very subjective determinations. There are no objective standards that specify what a "soft," "medium," or "firm" pillow is. Hence it is impossible to put a definitive firmness label on any pillow and have it mean the same thing for everyone. Our recommendation to every consumer is to compare the specifications. For example, it stands to reason a pillow with 20 oz. of fill is going to be firmer than a pillow with 10 oz. of the same fill, irrespective of any firmness label.
Nevertheless, the current wisdom is if you sleep (primarily) on your stomach, then you will probably best be served with a soft pillow, on your side - medium and on your back - firm.
Decorator pillows are much simpler and consist of the familiar sizes: 12x16 (boudoir), 6x14 (neck roll) and 26x26 (euro square). Our decorator pillows are available in synthetic, white goose feather, and white goose down fills. Additional square sizes are available for pillows filled with white goose feathers.
